See Galveston !
Galveston is coming back! Don't miss a minute! Galveston is one Texas’s most fascinating cities and a favorite of preservationist. The city was founded in 1839 and was the pride of early Texas. Before it was tamed The Island was home to Indians and Pirates. Galveston offers a visit back to the late 1880s when it was at its prime. Visit The Stand Historical District and numerous homes that managed to survive the "Great Storm" of 1900 and "Ike" in 2008. The Island was a wild and exciting place to be during the roaring twenties as it decided “not to participate” in prohibition. It was wide open -- with an abundance of music, drink and nightlife. The Texas Rangers finally managed to close down the old Balinese Room in 1957. Today Galveston embraces its rich past but is totally up to date with cruise ships coming and going, fine and fun restaurants everywhere, beaches to enjoy, and more!
